3月4日，中国人民政治协商会议第十四届全国委员会第一次会议将在北京召开，正式拉开今年两会的序幕。

“两会”并不是一个特定的机构名称，而是对自1978年以来历年召开的中华人民共和国全国人民代表大会和中国人民政治协商会议的统称。

由于两场会议会期基本重合，而且对于国家运作的重要程度都非常高，故简称“两会”。

The term "two sessions" refers to the yearly plenary meetings of the National People's Congress (NPC) - China's top legislative body and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) - the top political advisory body.
